Statement of Need/Program Overview

Increasingly, a healthcare provider's online reputation is becoming more important and more difficult to manage. The purpose of this educational activity is to discuss online reputation management strategies for healthcare providers, including how to effectively build, monitor and maintain a positive reputation online. This educational activity will discuss utilizing a plan to proactively respond to patient feedback online. Additionally, federal and state regulations will be discussed. Applying the newly acquired information into the learner's daily practice will have a positive and lasting effect on the healthcare provider's reputation.

Target Audience

The target audience for this activity is Medical Mutual's provider physician group and related healthcare professionals.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  1. Apply social media strategies in order to build a positive online healthcare provider reputation
  2. Cite 2-3 examples of where a healthcare provider's reputation may be impacted online
  3. Utilize a plan to proactively monitor online forums and how to respond to online feedback, ensuring protection of patient privacy rights
  4. Discuss basic legal concepts and possible issues that may be encountered while attempting to maintain a positive online healthcare provider reputation

Instructions to Receive CME Credit

In order to successfully complete the activity, participants must score 70% on the post test at the end of the activity and complete the course evaluations. Each participant has a maximum of three attempts to score a 70%. Successful completion is supported by a 70% pass rate at the end of the course, proving competency on the content of the activity.
