Statement of Need/Program Overview

This program is designed to disseminate critical information to physicians and healthcare providers regarding the Quality Payment Program (QPP) implemented by the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) final rule. The QPP requires eligible clinicians to select and report on quality measures through either the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) or Alternative Payment Models (APMs) track.

Target Audience

The target audience for this activity is Medical Mutual's provider physician groups and related healthcare professionals.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  1. Outline requirements of the QPP, MIPS, and APMs under MACRA, to assist in development of a multi-year implementation plan.
  2. Cite 2-3 clinical quality measures available through MIPS and APMs, including how to access and select measures as well as patient population application.
  3. Summarize the physician fee schedule reductions, penalties, and incentives associated with MIPS, APMs, and MACRA adherence, through 2019.

Instructions to Receive CME Credit

In order to successfully complete the activity, participants must score 70% on the post test at the end of the activity and complete the course evaluations. Each participant has a maximum of three attempts to score a 70%. Successful completion is supported by a 70% pass rate at the end of the course, proving competency on the content of the activity.
